Cosa vuol dire LOL

LOL è un’abbreviazione, di derivazione anglofona, usata sopratutto nelle comunicazioni via chat , nei forum e nei social network (twitter in particolare dove si hanno a disposizione solo 140 caratteri a messaggio), per esprimere in maniera stringata il proprio senso di divertimento per una data frase o situazione.

Le tre lettere che compongono l’acronimo o sigla, stanno infatti per le parole inglesi:

L = Laughing,  O = Out,  L = Loud  (ridere ad alta voce)

oppure, secondo altre interpretazioni

L – Lot,  O – Of, L – Laughs  (un sacco di risate)

In sostanza è un modo per dire al nostro interlocutore, che non ci sta vedendo, che stiamo ridendo a crepapelle per qualcosa che è stato detto o pubblicato in rete.

Altra espressione “in codice” abbastanza  usata per esprimere un livello di divertimento di intensità ancora maggiore, è ROTFL, che tradotto nei nostri termini vorrebbe dire “mi sto rotolando a terra dalle risate”.
